Says Singer Aishwarya Majmudar, Who, In The Era Of Singles, Will Launch A 6-Song Music Album Aura

Music lovers in Gujarat need no introduction to Aishwarya Majmudar. From the tender age of three, Aishwarya has been adept at singing all kinds of songs — be it film songs, sugam sangeet and even garba. And now, Aishwarya has launched a music album, Aura, featuring six songs from different genres, including Sufi, romantic, natkhat, and nazam. In addition, she’s also remixed two songs – one in a qawwali style and the other in K-pop style. All these songs have been written and composed by Aishwarya herself.

Talking about this album, Aishwarya shared with Mirror, “Since the first decade of my life, I have been listening to and singing only Hindi songs. Around the age of 10, I started learning and singing simple Gujarati songs. So far, I have sung Hindi singles or film songs but not a single Hindi album. So I was already connected with Hindi and I love writing Hindi very much. So I have done this album in Hindi language.

“Aura means Divine Light. If I have to express myself through music I have different moods or forms, so this album has different mood songs. The experiences in life in the last five years have been represented in these songs.”

Notes on creativity

About the process of writing these songs, Aishwarya said, “There was nowhere to go during Covid – all work had stopped, shows had also stopped. If you want your creativity to come out in some way, what can you do? I started writing songs; I wrote 25 songs and released some as singles. But I was tired of doing singles and wanted to express myself in a better manner and more. Hence, the album! I had to do a bit of research for the Urdu in nazam and qawwali, but I kept writing Hindi songs as I was inspired.”

Asked if her audience would be willing to listen to an album in the era of singles, the singer said, “I made an album from my heart, and had a lot of fun making it. I do what I like, I don’t care if anyone else likes it or not. For me, this is for myself, my experiences and my presentation. I don’t care how people will accept it, even if they accept it or not. I believe in giving my small contribution to the sea of Indie music. I did my job, I didn’t push anyone. That’s all I think.

“As an artist I would be bound if I was afraid to think about who would listen to my work. I would rather flow like a fresh river than drown in a sea of music. I don’t write for a film so I don’t write for a specific price or time frame, I write when I feel like it. I just take my mom’s feedback,” she mused.

Aishwarya further said that she has been working in the industry for the past 20 years, and apart from singing and writing songs, she has also written web series and now understands the intricacies of shooting and production, as well as the process of stage design or performance packaging. “I seriously understand the importance of everything that I have found in life,” concludes the 30-year-old singer.
